June 12th was a breather. Just 42 reports nationwide, and most of them (25) were wind — the kind of scattered, low-key day that barely registers unless it's your tree on your fence.

Activity split into two clumps. Out on the plains, Kansas led with 8 reports and the day's best hail (1.75" near Horace), with Iowa and Missouri chipping in — Grant City, MO took the biggest stone of the day at 2 inches. Meanwhile a line of wind raked the Mid-Atlantic: Maryland (7 wind reports) and Virginia (6, mostly around Haymarket) caught the brunt, with New Mexico rounding out the busier states.

Reality check for homeowners: a 1–2" hail day like this is borderline. The 2" near Grant City is worth a look; the sub-1" stuff elsewhere mostly just made noise. If you're a contractor, this isn't a canvassing day — save the gas. The 13th is where the real work is — see the Top States for Hail ranking and the day-by-day in the daily reports.
