Hail storms cause billions of dollars in property damage each year, with roofing damage being the most common claim. Hail as small as 1" (quarter-sized) can damage asphalt shingles, while hail 1.75" (golf ball) or larger typically causes significant damage requiring roof replacement. Insurance companies generally allow claims within 1-2 years of a documented hail event.
